Live Music Coverage

May 10, 2015

The fest has managed to avoid much of the anticipated storms this weekend, with not a single drop of precipitation on Saturday, and the sky appearing very bright and promising today (Sunday).

On day 2 we were happy to have caught San Francisco natives, Thee Oh Sees, for the fourth time in our career as fans of the band. There was no shortage of crowd surfing and beach balls. TOS are known for their frequent lineup changes, but this time we were surprised to see the band donning two drummers, which brought back sentimental memories from past Melvins shows.

I was able to cop their latest album on vinyl, Drop, from the Hotel Vegas show late last year. While this album is more space-y than riff-y, compared to their previous titles, it’s still worth a purchase and the album art is the sickest yet.

We also discovered psych-rock/acid-western band, Spindrift, earlier in the day. Hailing from Newark, Delaware, these Doors inspired, spaghetti-western reminiscent 6 piece features multi-talented frontman and founder Kirkpatrick Thomas, who’s known for touring with notable stoner rock band, Dead Meadows.

See you all tonight for the final day of the fest with a stacked lineup including The Black Angels, The 13th Floor Elevators, Chelsea Wolfe, A Place to Bury Strangers, Fuzz and The Flaming Lips!
